October Charity of the Month | Little Lifts
As we head into the colder season, this month we shine a light on East Anglia based breast cancer charity Little Lifts.
About Little Lifts
Little Lifts mission is to provide free and thoughtful handpicked Little Lifts gift boxes to every breast cancer patient in the UK receiving chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment. Boxes can be ordered for yourself or a loved one going through cancer treatment or gifted through the NHS. Cancer poses a challenging time for everyone affected by a diagnosis; Little Lifts boxes aim to give people a little lift during a difficult time “a little kindness can go a long way”.
In the East of England, Little Lifts work directly with NHS hospitals to provide free Little Lifts boxes to patients during their treatment planning or review meeting.
Every year, 55,000 women and 400 men are diagnosed with breast cancer, Little Lifts aim to reach all of those affected. This year alone, they have sent over 22,523 free Little Lifts Boxes with the help of hospital partnerships and the Little Kindness Fund. Its hospital partnerships ensure that Little Lifts Boxes are automatically gifted to breast cancer patients, reaching hundreds of people in the East of England every year.
About Little Lifts Boxes
There are two Little Lifts Boxes, one for Chemotherapy and one for Radiotherapy, both approved by the NHS for people undergoing breast cancer treatment. The boxes have been curated by people who have experience of breast cancer treatment.
The Chemotherapy Box comes with at least 25 items and include mood boosting goodies suitable for people undergoing chemotherapy with ethically sourced practical products included. The box features items like a pain-easing heat pack, luxury body lotion, cordial, sleep kit, organic chocolate and treats to aid relaxation.
The Radiotherapy Box contains at least 12 items suitable for those going through radiotherapy treatment. The box includes items like seeds, soap, a candle, hot chocolate, a tote bag, a pulse point roller and more to help aid relaxation. Find out more about the two boxes here.
Testimonials
Little Lifts help thousands of people each year including Sadie from Brisley, Norfolk who was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in 2019. Sadie received her Little Lifts Box during chemotherapy after her second treatment. Sadie opened the box with her family and said ‘Everything in the Box was fab. It gave you a little lift and you feel like someone is on your side thinking of you’.
