Charity Of The Month | Future Radio

As we reach September, this month we shine a spotlight on one of the UK’s longest running community radio stations, Future Radio.

About Future Radio

After receiving its full-time broadcast license in 2005, Future Radio has been Norwich’s Community Station, broadcasting for and about the people, organisations, culture, news, and events in our fine city, to 380,000 people in Greater Norwich.

Future Radio is operated by around 70 volunteers, who present and produce shows, source local news stories, carry out administrative tasks and everything else that is needed to run a radio station.

The Sound of Norwich

Future Radio is more than just a radio station, it’s run by the people of Norwich to engage with the community, build skills and provide opportunities through music, conversation and people. Tune in to its station, 107.8fm, DAB or online at futureradio.co.uk.

Donate a Tune

Future Radio’s initiative Donate a Tune supports local charity Future Projects, of which Future Radio is a part of. Listeners can make a donation and select a song to be played on the station.

Future Projects tackles poverty, deprivation, and disadvantage in Norfolk, helping those most in need. It’s estimated that 46,000 Norfolk households are experiencing fuel poverty and 34% of children in Norwich are living in poverty. The charity provides food support and help with money, debts, housing and homelessness, employment, mental health and much more.

Why Did We Choose To Support Future Radio?

We chose to support Future Radio because it serves as a vital link in connecting and empowering our local community. The station offers a platform for people to share their voices, stories, and experiences, helping to foster a sense of belonging and community spirit. Additionally, Future Radio is a part of Future Projects, a charity that addresses social challenges, making a tangible impact on the lives of those facing hardship.
