Signposting The Forum’s Norwich Science Festival

The Forum is an iconic building in the centre of Norwich managed by The Forum Trust, a registered charity. It presents and coordinates a range of amazing events for everyone to enjoy throughout the year, including Norwich Science Festival. With such an iconic event space and a repertoire of events throughout the year, branding and signage are essential to get every message across.

What Was The Challenge?

The annual Norwich Science Festival was on the horizon, a complex event that the team managed across 22 venues, and 230 events in Norfolk. Danie Hadley, Marketing & Communications Manager for Norwich Science Festival at The Forum Trust, was prepping for the event and planning out requirements for branding. This led to complex needs, with multiple different formats and dimensions, as well as different timelines. From traditional signage, car park billboards, door vinyl, exterior banners, stickers, and window graphics to set dressing for stages.

With such a varied signage requirement for the Festival, The Forum Trust turned to us at CIM. As a long-term partner of The Forum, we were the first port of call as we were able to cater to the team’s needs in-house and using our connections across the signage and display sector.

The Solution

With a focus on “delving deeper” during the half term, the design of the Festival used a lot of blue and white elements with a bright orange to capture attention.

The design and messaging had to work throughout, with various display sizes and format requirements, and a varied audience from the youngest scientists to adult-focused events too.

We worked with the team to provide literature in various forms, both before and during the event. From stickers to large format banners in the car park, we worked with The Forum Trust to ensure the messaging was clear and uniform across the city. This enabled The Forum Trust to present a clear message with the advertisement of the event, ensuring key messaging and branding were consistent and correct.

A priority for all of the collateral created for Norwich Science Festival was to ensure that the materials used were as sustainable as possible. This commitment to environmental responsibility was reflected in the use of eco-friendly products like correx, a recyclable material known for its durability and versatility.

We then swiftly moved on to the next event in their busy calendar, as well as supporting them with updating various displays and signage around the site. As a long-term supplier to The Forum, we’re often working on multiple projects at once, with some on very tight timelines.

Rowan Whiteside, the Marketing & Communications Manager at The Forum commented on the partnership, “CIM plays a crucial role in the visitor experience at The Forum, and in our outdoor marketing – we rely on them to help us get across crucial messages and support our marketing efforts – from providing directional wraps on lifts, to replacing billboards! Their support and hard work make our jobs much easier, and we love working with the whole team at CIM. They always go the extra mile to ensure that the product is suitable and created to the highest standard.”

For every new challenge, the team comes together to give 110% from a simple door graphic to the largest banner. It’s great to see that hard work pays off with great turnout and happy attendees.”
