Common mistakes for pull-up banners

Pull-up or roller banners are our bread and butter here at CIM. We produce hundreds every year and help businesses across East Anglia to design eye-catching banners.

To help speed up the process and save you time and money, we’ve collated our top five common mistakes which businesses stumble over when producing their pull-up banners and how to avoid them.

1.     Information Overload

We know you want to share all your business information on a single banner. From address, logos, names, your goals and all the lovely images and branding that you’ve worked hard to produce. But, because people will only have a few seconds to glance at your banner, it’s best to keep it simple.

Once you’ve decided on your messaging, try, and remove some content to ensure that your key message stands out. Make sure that you have eye-catching images to support your messaging or use creative shapes to make your information stand out more.

Pull out a few key points that sell your business and direct people to another source to find out the full story.

 2.    Bland Colours

In an event full of colour and branding, your banner needs to stand out. A plain and boring colour pallet can make you fade into the background. Using bright and contrasting colours can attract the eye of potential clients or customers.

Think about choosing a bright or contrasting colour for your call to action to make sure it stands out, or an accent colour to highlight your images.

3.    Sizing Issues

Size matters when it comes to images, design, and text. You don’t want to work hard at a design and then when it’s printed it becomes pixelated or the font becomes illegible.

Make sure that any imagery you choose is of high enough quality that it can work on a larger scale. If you’re unsure of what you need, get in touch with the team to check if your design will work on a larger scale.

You will also want to make sure to avoid designing your banner in the wrong size so that some of the design doesn’t get cut off during the printing process.

4.    Buying Cheap and Buying Twice

Investing in roller banners for your business is a big step. Once you’ve committed to a design and parted with your cash, you don’t want it to fall apart during your event.

There are cheaper options for cassettes on the market, but they often fail, getting stuck when unrolling or coming unstuck under the heat and lights of an exhibition hall which could be embarrassing for you, and by then it's too late to sort the problem.

Working with a local business when it comes to roller banners means we can supply you with a quality cassette that won’t fail or leave a bad impression of your business, and we’ll even recycle your old cassette if you no longer need it after an event.

5.    Leaving It Too Late

Designing a pull-up banner takes time. Working with a design team or getting it approved in-house can mean that the process is lengthy.

When it comes to banners, there’s print and production time to consider. We usually ask for a week’s turnaround time once the design is approved. When it’s an emergency, we will always see what we can do for our clients.

Get in touch to see if we can help with your roller banner requirements.
